Late morning weather observation

Good morning

1). On radar,  nice illustration of ocean effect snow still ongoing this morning across parts of Southeastern Massachusetts.  A strong Northernly flow & strong temperature contrasts between the water temperature and land took place, leading to a little bit of convection.  Ocean effect snow occurs a few times each season across New England.

2).  Cold winter temperatures have finally reached parts of  the region.  Some locations across Northern New England were below zero.  Up at Lyndon State College,  the temperature got to 1.2 degrees.  A bit chilly.

Afternoon Weather Update

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard from 4 P.M this afternoon through 1 P.M tomorrow afternoon.  Snowfall accumulations of 2-4 inches are possible, especially across the outer Cape, and islands.  Localized higher amounts are possible where the snow bands form strengthen due to convection.  The primary impacts will be slippery roadways, and some gusty winds.  However, this event is short lived and should diminish by tomorrow afternoon.

Good Morning Everyone,

Headline:

The tipsy turvy weather pattern continues.  So far, we had a few days of cooler weather and  snow.  Then a couple days later, we have above normal temperatures and rain.   A lot of places across Southern New England and Eastern NY have had more snowfall so far this season then areas across  Northern New England.  However, winter will be in temporary control over the next few days.  Some parts of Southern New England may pick up some light snow accumulations from a weak disturbance Saturday Night into Sunday.   Colder temperatures will remain in place through the early work week before a warm front moves in from the west later in the day Monday.
