3:30 p.m Severe Weather Update

The SPC has extended a  Severe Thunderstorm Watch for most of Southern New England,  and most of Northern New England, except for North Central Maine.  The watch is in effect until 7 p.m.  Conditions are favorable for storm development.

Currently on radar, there are two lines of showers, and severe storms moving east-southeast.  One line extends from the southern range of the Catskills thru Central New Hampshire. A Second concentration of showers and storms is moving across Upstate New York.  There are some Severe Thunderstorm warnings with a few of these storms along the first line of precipitation.

Breaks of Sun are present this afternoon and evening across most of New England and Eastern NY.  Cape values are rising steady across most of the region.  The Lifted Index is very low across Vermont, Eastern New York, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.  The highest wind shear is around 40 to 50 m/s across parts of Eastern New York and Western Massachusetts/ Connecticut.  The area of shear continues to move into New England.  Conditions are very favorable for storm development.

Area One
Storms are ongoing across the Southern Berkshires, Eastern New York, and Western Connecticut.  will continue to march southeastward at 45 mph.  Storms will approach the Springfield - Hartford areas within the next hour to hour and a half.  The storms should weaken when approaching Southeast MA and parts of south coastal New England due to an offshore south wind.

Area two
Few storms and showers ongoing in the adirondacks and the canadian border.  Storms are moving 30 mph to the east. This will impact the Burlington- Plattsburgh area within the next half hour.

Area Three
cluster of showers and storms moving east at 25 mph.   moving southeast located near White River Junction, NH. This should clear the Concord -Laconia area within the next half hour.
