The National Hurricane center has designated a disturbance in the Southern Gulf of Mexico as a Tropical Storm. This is the 3rd named storm of the season. Its name is Don. Don has max sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving to the North-Northwest at 12 mph. At this current trajectory, it will impact the Gulf coast of Texas between Houston and Brownsville Friday Evening and early morning Saturday. As of now, the storm is projected to remain at tropical storm strength when reaching the coast of Texas. There is a small chance that the storm could reach category one hurricane status at this point. However, this storm can still strengthen. This storm is still dangerous, regardless of it being a tropical storm. The storm will bring heavy rain, and gusty winds in the range of 39 to 73 mph. If you know anyone or are on the Texas gulf coast, begin to take safety preparations and be on the look out for updated weather reports on the storm.
