Evening Update

Good Evening Everyone

Hope everyone is doing well and lasting through this epic October Snowstorm.

The storm is slowly starting to calm down across parts of Eastern NY.  The back edge of the snow will slowly migrate toward the east over the next few hours.  Over New England, there is heavy banding ongoing from Hartford CT to  Springfield MA to Concord NH up to Portland ME.  This band is moving slowly to the north and east.  This will provide a few hours of heavy snow.  Over Eastern MA, The rain is slowly transitioning over to snow across the immediate Boston Metro and south shore.  Areas on the immediate coast and down by the Cape and Islands should remain mostly rain.  However, the biggest concern for areas of Southeast MA will be the Winds and flooding.  Hurricane strength force winds are likely ongoing and will continue through the overnight.  This combined with high tide will bring substantial flooding to communities along the coast.

The number of power outages is staggering across the region.  Millions of people are in the dark and those numbers are likely to go up as the overnight persists.  If out and about, listen to messages from emergency reporters and take precautions as there are numerous trees and power lines down.

The snow and rain should slowly move from southwest to northeast through the overnight and morning. I will post an morning update later on.  Hang in there and stay safe.
