Good Morning Everyone,
The million dollar question I will try to answer is what is the path of the storm and what impacts could it have on New England?
First, I will discuss the latest on the storm. Emily is currently a weak tropical storm just off the coast of the Dominican Republic and Haiti as of the 8 am update. The storm has max sustained winds of 50 mph and is moving near stationary. It is expected to make landfall on the island of Hispaniola today. Afterwards, it will continue to move towards Cuba and the Bahamas by Saturday. The storm is expected to remain off the coast of Florida and strengthen into a hurricane. The storm is projected to move offshore towards the northeast and remaining off the coast of the Otter Banks of North Carolina by Monday. If the storm was to follow this track, there would only be some rough surf and a rip current threat along the coast.
The storm track is not set and stone. There can be some variability in the track that could shift the storm more to the west or east. Anyone along the east coast of the United States should monitor the movement and progress of Emily.
