New updated forecast for Wednesday, October 26th thru Sunday, October 30th

Good evening everyone

Hope everyone is enjoying the nice fall-like weather across the region. This is going to be an interesting weather week for many.  A series of storm systems to our west will impact us later in the day Wednesday thru Friday.  This may bring the first snow of the season for many.  yes, I mentioned the four letter word that many of us despise.  Some parts of the region may likely get there first share of snow.  As of now, the confidence for predicting snow Thursday night into Friday is still relatively low due to the storm being 2 days out.  However, don't let your guard down as it is not too uncommon to have october snowstorms across the region.  Another storm is possible for Saturday as it will remain off the coast.  There is another chance of snow again for parts of New England.

Surface Analysis

Currently, there is a low across the Northern Province of Quebec that is providing some isolated showers and cloud cover to areas of Northern New England and NY today.  A High is present across North Carolina and Virginia that brought some sun and clearing to parts of Eastern NY and Southern New England today.  A series of lows are present across the midwest and Inter-Mountain West.  This will be our weather maker for tomorrow through Friday morning.  Another low will approach the region later in the day Saturday and move out by Sunday.

Outline of snowfall potential Thursday Night Thru Friday Morning....


2-5 inches of snow across higher elevations above 1500 feet across the Southern Greens, Berkshires, and Catskills.  Dusting to an inch or two for many across interiors parts of Southern New England and Eastern NY.  This will be mainly on grassy surfaces and roads will remain wet.

-As for this weekend, There is another storm possibility for Saturday Night into Sunday.  Stay posted for more information about this situation.


Wednesday, October 26th


Mostly cloudy with isolated showers across Eastern NY and Western New England,  partly cloudy across Eastern New England in the morning.   Partly cloudy across far northern New England, Mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the afternoon and evening for many across Southern New England and Eastern NY.  High temperatures in the 30s and 40s across Northern New England, 40s and 50s across Southern New England.  Winds from the north-northwest at 5-15 mph across Northern New England,  Winds from the south-southwest at 5-10 mph with higher gusts along the coast and in higher elevations.   Low temperatures in the 20s and 30s across Northern New England,  30s and 40s across Southern New England and Eastern NY.  Winds from the northeast at 5-10 mph with higher gusts along the coast and higher elevations.


Thursday, October 27th


Mostly cloudy with scattered showers, especially across Southern New England and Eastern NY in the morning.  Mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers in the valleys, snow in the higher elevations of Eastern NY and Southern New England.  Some heavy periods of precipitation possible.   High temperatures in the 30s and 40s to near 50.   Winds from the north-northeast at 5-15 mph with higher gusts along the coast.   Low temperatures in the 20s and 30s across Northern New England, 30s and 40s across Southern New England.  Winds from the north-northwest at 5-15 mph with higher gusts along the coast.

Friday, October 28th


Partly cloudy in the morning ,some clearing in the afternoon and evening.  High temperatures in the 20s and 30s across Northern New England, 30s and 40s across Southern New England and Eastern NY.
Low temperatures in the 10's and 20s across Northern New England, 20s and 30s across Southern New England and Eastern NY.

Saturday, October 29th


Sun and clouds in the morning. Clouds developing from south to north throughout the day.   Rain/snow mix in higher elevations in the afternoon.  Snow across interior New England and Eastern NY, Rain Snow mix along the coast.  Heavy Precipitation likely.  Several inches are likely for many, with up to a foot possible in high elevations.  High temperatures in the 30s and 40s.  Low temperatures in the 20s and 30s across Northern New England, 30s and 40s across Southern New England and Eastern NY.


Sunday, October 30th


Sun and clouds.  High temperatures in the 30s and 40s across Northern New England, 40s and 50s across Southern New England and Eastern NY.
